Alan Stevens was born in Houston Texas. He received a degree in engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He began working with sled dogs in 2013 as a handler on the Mendenhall glacier for Alaska Icefield Expeditions. He then went on to work with four time Iditarod champion Martin Buser. Alan successfully completed the 2015 Iditarod Sled Dog Race in 12 days, 8 hours, 43 minutes, and 2 seconds. After Iditarod, Alan continued his mushing career in Colorado with his fiancée Allie. They now spend their summers in Juneau, working with Gold Rush Sled Dog Tours, sharing their love for the sport of mushing and their dogs with guests from around the globe.
